Foreordinatio might refer to
Foreordination, an important doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), teaches that during the pre-mortal existence, God selected ("foreordained") particular people to fulfill certain missions ("callings") during their mortal lives. For example, prophets were foreordained to be the Lord's servants, all who receive the priesthood were foreordained to that calling, and Jesus Christ was foreordained to enact the atonement.
* Unlike predestination, foreordination allows for individual agency (the ability to choose whether to fulfil one's callings).
* As important as this doctrine is, it is difficult to understand especially when it is understood that those preordained have no way of knowing they have been pre-selected for a specific task i.e. prophet, or apostle etc.
* According to LDS beliefs one may gain insights from their patriarchal blessing or from inspiration but the fact remains that no one really knows they have been foreordained to do or be anything. Mary for example did not know she had been foreordained until Gabriel told her what God required of her.
* Another problem understanding this doctrine is calling a person to serve in the church, usually the person is told that prayer has been offered and revelation received that they should be called (perhaps as Bishop). The problem arises when the call is turned down and someone else is called, such action necessitates more than one person being foreordained to a position. It may be that prophets are preordained because there would be no one in mortality to ordain them but Elders' are "two a penny" and can be ordained easily and without any knowledge that they were chosen before their birth for that particular calling.
* Another use of the word implies that some were chosen to perform a particular event, e.g. bring Israel out of Egypt (Moses), preach to the Gentiles (Paul), restore a church (Joseph) or in the case of Christ perform the atonement. The word only appears once in the New Testament where it relates to the foreordination of Christ. First Epistle of Peter 1:20
* Foreknowing that an event will take place brings problems. If God knows an event will take place and foreordains a person to bring it to pass is it possible for that person to refuse to make it happen? If it is possible for God to know the choice a person will make before they have considered it and come to a decision themselves (which seems doubtful) it implies He is manipulating his children for His own purposes, purposes that they are unaware they are taking part in. It may be that God cannot know everything about the future.
* Consequently, no explanation will completely or adequately explain how things work outside of our frame of reference. A concise explanation of the pertinent doctrine may be found on lds.org: https://www.lds.org/topics/foreordination?lang=eng
