Spadr might refer to
A spadroon is a light sword with a straight edged blade, enabling both cut and thrust attacks. The style became popular among military and naval officers in the 1700s, as well as pirates, spreading from England to the United States and to France, where it was known as the épée anglaise (English sword).
* Hilts were often of the beaded or "five-ball" type with a stirrup guard. A spadroon blade usually had a broad, central fuller and a single edge, often with a false edge near the tip. It was shorter than a rapier (to better maneuver on small cramped ships), but longer and more versatile than most small swords.
* Castle (1892) wrote of it: "A cutting sword of still narrower dimensions, and with a much simpler guard, approximating to that of the small sword, was called "Spadroon" in England; it was, in fact, similar to the German cut-and-thrust rapier of the eighteenth century, which had been called Spadane or Spadrone since the disuse of the regular two-handed swords... The German Spadroon was a regular double-edged sword, but any very light back or shearing sword was so called in England."
