* On the Mudcat Café site at Mudcat, one author "Áine" notes that her grandmother sung a different chorus. Much of this, however, appears to be an attempt at a phonetic rendering of the above, the exception being the "socair sásta" line ("safe and happy"). Much of what's below is incorrect Irish (Ínionaí" is not an Irish word, and "cois an chlé mo" doesn't actually make sense, as it literally means "at the foot of the left/clay my"), but it does SOUND a good deal like the version above when read aloud, which is why it's assumed to be an attempted phonetic rendering rather than actual Irish words:
