Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by the measles virus. Symptoms usually develop 1012 days after exposure to an infected person and last 710 days. Complications occur in about 30% of cases and may include diarrhea, blindness, inflammation of the brain, and pneumonia, among others.
