Leon Frank Czolgosz (Polish pronunciation: [ˈt͡ʂɔwɡɔʂ]; May 5, 1873 – October 29, 1901) was an Alpena, Michigan, U.S. born anarchist of Polish descent, and former steel worker who assassinated United States President William McKinley on September 6, 1901 in Buffalo, NY, at the Temple of Music on the 1901 Pan American Exposition Fair grounds. McKinley succumbed to his wounds on September 14, 1901. Czolgosz was executed seven weeks later on October 29, 1901.*
