The name Sudoku is the Japanese abbreviation of a longer phrase, "Suuji
wa dokushin ni Kagiru" meaning "the digits must remain single". Sudoko
is also known as a Number Place. It's a logic based placement puzzle.
The game is most frequently a 9x9 gird, made up of 3x3 subgrids called
"blocks". Some cells have already numbers which are given to us for
clues. The Player have to fill the empty cells one number in each so
that each cell contains the numberals 1-9 exactly once. There is not
mathematics required to solve the puzzles, just pure loigc and
reasoning.The attraction of the
puzzle is that the completion rules are simple, yet the line of
reasoning required to reach the completion may be complex. This kind of
game is the best to get people addicted to and can last long time. |

HISTORY : |
| |
Le Siecle, a French daily, produced a 9x9 gird with 3x3 sub-squares as
early as 1892, but used double digit numbers rather than the familiar
1-9. In 1985, another French daily, La France, created a puzzle that
used the numbers 1-9 but did not mark the 3x3 sub-squares. These weekly
puzzles were a feature of newspaper titles icluding L'Echo de Pairs for
about a decade but disappeared about the time of the First World War.
The moden Sudoku was designed anonymously by Howard Garns, a 74 year old
retired architect and freelance puzzle constructor, and first published
in 1979.
